Are you ready to lead a team of practitioners and nutrition strategies that power Australia’s next champions? WAIS is seeking a passionate Sports Dietitian – Lead to guide our elite athletes and practitioners toward podium success.

In this pivotal role, you’ll combine leadership with hands on impact, driving operational priorities, setting practice standards and collaborating nationally to ensure WAIS athletes thrive in high performance environments. You’ll also work directly with athletes to deliver cutting edge nutrition strategies that support performance and wellbeing.

The Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) is the peak high-performance sporting organisation in Western Australia, proudly supported by the State Government and a member of the National Institute Network. Since 1984, WAIS has enabled Western Australian athletes to achieve success on the national and international stage, producing Olympic, Paralympic and World Champions who inspire community pride and the next generation.

About the Role

As Sports Dietitian – Lead, you will:

  • Lead and inspire a team of practitioners, driving delivery of operational priorities and practice standards within the Win Well ethos.
  • Collaborate nationally with AIS and NIN discipline leads and advocate for best practice in sports dietetics.
  • Deliver evidence based nutrition strategies that help athletes achieve podium success and senior team graduation.
  • Monitor and manage nutrition based health risks, including disordered eating, ensuring athlete wellbeing through appropriate referral pathways.
  • Foster innovation and applied research within your discipline.
  • Work within interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic athlete support.
  • Supervise and mentor dietetic students and research projects.

This is a maximum term position until December 2028 (with potential for extension) and can be offered at 0.8 – 1 FTE to provide flexibility for the right candidate.

Remuneration: $120,000 - $130,000 per annum (pro rata for part time), plus superannuation.

 

About You

You'll bring:

  • Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) and Accredited Sports Dietitian (ASD) credentials.
  • Tertiary qualification in Dietetics.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in high performance sport, including proven leadership responsibilities.
  • Ability to inspire, educate and engage athletes and staff to achieve challenging goals.
  • Strong collaboration skills in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Above all, you’re a genuine team player who acts with kindness and integrity.
