Hockey Coach at the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS)
WAIS is seeking an experienced and passionate Coach to support the Head Coach in delivering a high-performance daily training environment, fostering excellence across a dual-gender program for WAIS hockey athletes. Please note, this role has a maximum term of 4 years with the potential to extend.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing male and female athletes for selection to national squads and achieving international success. You will work closely with WAIS performance support disciplines and proactively collaborate with Hockey Australia and Hockey WA to ensure alignment with the national performance pathway.

Role Overview:
In this role your key areas of responsibility encompass:
- Athlete performance and wellbeing
- Assisting the Head Coach to achieve WAIS Hockey program objectives
- Providing leadership across the performance pathway; and
- Developing and maintaining meaningful and effective engagement with stakeholders for the program.
About you:
- You are committed to upholding Australia’s High Performance WinWell pledge putting athlete wellbeing at the forefront of your role.
- You have a minimum of 3 years’ experience coaching national junior and senior level hockey players and a minimum of Hockey Australia Level 2 Coach or international equivalent.
- You have a demonstrated track record of coaching State Teams (U21 or higher) and successfully progressing hockey players through the high-performance pathway
- You have amazing interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with athletes, parents, colleagues and external stakeholders alike.
- You can demonstrate your technical and tactical knowledge across hockey disciplines with an understanding of key levers for achieving skills progression and acquisition.
- You have or are able to attain a Working with Children Check and National Police Criminal History check.
- Above all else, you are a genuine team player that cares about others and always acts with kindness and integrity.
